ESSCA Meeting: Public Safety
Please join us in person on Thursday, February 8th at 7pm for an ESSCA Meeting with Montgomery County Council VP Kate Stewart and Captain David Reed of MCPD.
Over the last several weeks there have been several incidents of violent crime in our ESSCA neighborhood.
In December, armed men robbed patrons of Shalla Restaurant at Georgia Avenue and Sligo. What you may not know is that on Friday, January 5th, the Best Convenience Mart on Silver Spring Avenue and Piney Branch was also robbed by an armed assailant.
When those two incidents occurred, we started having conversations about hosting a meeting to discuss police response and suggested solutions.
However, we decided to hold this emergency meeting (apologies for the short notice) after the shooting on this past Friday night on Hartford Avenue, near Adventist Community Services.
ESSCA Meeting
Thursday, February 8 at 7pm
Sligo Avenue Neighborhood Park
500 Sligo Avenue
Public safety is a key priority for all of us, and please join us for this important conversation with CM Kate Stewart and Captain David Reed.
Because this is such a short turnaround and an important subject, we are also looking for volunteers to spread the word to their neighbors and hand out flyers to local businesses and apartments. Please email us at esscaprez@gmail.com if you’d like to volunteer.
Thanks all,
Kate, Dan, Pete and Myra
